Dr. Christine Adamo

Dr. Christine Adamo is a board-certified, integrative medicine physician. She practices functional medicine, herbal medicine, nutrition, natural supplementation, and acupuncture. Her training is in internal medicine and she treats a variety of conditions such as digestive disorders, cardiovascular complaints, neurological issues, autoimmune diseases, and pain.

Dr. Adamo’s passion is in integrative oncology, providing specialized care for patients with cancer. She brings relief to patients struggling with the side effects of chemotherapy, immunotherapy, radiation, and surgery and provides post-treatment and survivorship care. She also offers holistic assistance to patients who choose to bypass conventional cancer care.

While Dr. Adamo has always had a private practice, she’s also worked at California Cancer Associates for Research and Excellence (cCARE) since 2009. This clinical setting has seasoned her in the field of integrative oncology and has allowed her to stay current in the most recent advancements in treating cancer.  In addition, Dr. Adamo was a co-founder and owner of the San Diego Center for Integrative Oncology.

Dr. Adamo is an active member of the Society of Integrative Oncology (SIO), whose mission is to advance evidence-based, comprehensive, integrative healthcare to improve the lives of people affected by cancer.  Her involvement with SIO has allowed her to share her professional knowledge and experience with other oncology professionals at SIO’s annual international conference and at bi-weekly small group meetings.

Dr. Adamo’s formal education includes:

  • Doctorate of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine from the Pacific College of Health Sciences, San Diego, CA
  • Postgraduate training in integrative oncology at MD Anderson Cancer Center, Houston, TX
  • Postgraduate training in oncology at the Shanghai University of Traditional Chinese Medicine, Shanghai, China
  • Postgraduate training in oncology, cardiology, and pediatrics at The Chengdu University of Traditional Chinese Medicine, Chengdu, China
  • Masters of Science in Traditional Oriental Medicine from the Pacific College of Health Sciences, San Diego, CA
  • Bachelors of Science in Business Administration and Finance from Towson University, Towson, MD

Dr. Adamo teaches various classes on integrative oncology, integrative medicine, and pain management throughout the year. She’s been an instructor for the Osher Program at California State University San Marcos and Health Quality Partner’s Pain Management Program of Southern California. She’s taught continuing education classes for doctors, medical students, and other licensed health care providers. Most recently, she was a key speaker at the 10th Annual Primary Care & Behavioral Health Integration Summit in San Diego County.

Melissa has a dynamic work history that includes over 15 years of administrative experience. She thrives in an environment where she can interact with people and be of service. Melissa has personal experience receiving various natural-healing treatments and the myriad of benefits that natural medicine can provide.

In tandem with her professional experience, Melissa has a Master’s degree in Literature and Writing Studies and has a true passion for the arts. She and her daughter love the outdoors and traveling and are always excited to plan their next adventure.

Sarah Coole

Sarah is a San Diego native and has a strong desire to serve her community professionally and personally. She has a passion for empowering others to live their best lives and is a firm believer in integrative medicine. Her commitment to East West Integrative Medicine is to “lead with grace and gratitude, seek knowledge through on-going education, and cultivate a thriving and supportive environment.”

Sarah is currently pursuing a certification in nutrition and is grateful and excited to be part of our team. Outside of work, Sarah enjoys running, hiking, and sticking her toes in the sand with her family and friends.
